Total Equine Essentials

Total Equine Essentials logo

When your horse can’t have much, every pound has to count.

Total Equine® Essentials™ is the concentrate of Total Equine® — the same base mix, delivering complete nutrition at just 1 lb per 1,000 lb of body weight per day. A real feed for severely restricted diets. Not a supplement. Not a top-dress.

Some horses can’t have a full ration — restricted diets are a reality for many owners. That usually means choosing between the calories your horse can’t afford and the nutrition your horse can’t go without. Essentials™ ends that trade-off: the same base mix as Total Equine®, concentrated so your horse gets the complete nutrition in a single pound a day, fed with hay and water. And you can’t colic a horse with any version of Total Equine®.

Light, highly digestible kibble — more of every bag becomes nutrition instead of waste. Easier to chew, safer to feed, from weanlings to hard-keeping seniors.

Minerals bonded for absorption, so they end up in your horse — not on the ground. Stronger hooves, better coats, real mineral nutrition that actually gets used.

Ascophyllum nodosum, harvested from cold North Atlantic waters. A natural source of trace minerals and bioactive compounds that support gut health — in every Total Feeds formula since day one.

Feed 1.0 lb. of Total Equine® Essentials™ per 1,000 lb. of body weight per day with free choice grass or hay. Fresh water and salt should be available at all times.

When changing over to Total Equine® Essentials™, feed only hay and water for 24 hours, then feed at the recommended rate. Do not mix with other grain products. 1.25 quarts is approximately 1.0 lb. of Total Equine® Essentials™. This feed contains supplemental copper. Do not feed to sheep.

This number describes one pound of feed — not your horse’s diet. At the full feeding rate of 1 lb per 1,000 lb of body weight, 21% of one pound is about 3.4 ounces of NSC for the entire day. What that means for your horse’s total diet depends on everything else your horse eats — contact us and our consulting nutritionist will run the numbers with you.

Horses on severely restricted diets — when your horse can only have limited feed but still needs complete nutrition every day.

No. It’s a complete feed, fed on its own with hay and water. It’s the concentrate of Total Equine — everything your horse needs, at 1 lb per 1,000 lb of body weight per day.

Same base mix. Essentials concentrates it, so the full nutrition comes in one pound a day instead of a full ration — built for horses that can’t have the volume.

1 lb per 1,000 lb of body weight per day, with hay, fresh water, and salt available. A 30-lb bag feeds a 1,000-lb horse for about a month. Full feeding directions are printed on every bag.

Never mix Total Feeds horse feeds with other feeds. Give your horse 24 hours of hay and water, then start feeding Essentials.

Feed Total Equine instead. Essentials exists for the horse that can’t have a full ration; if your horse can, Total Equine is the right feed.

It’s on Chewy for delivery. Buying local? Any Total Feeds dealer can order it — just ask.

Every pound counts. Make it this one.
